View all search resultsThe ministry’s Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI) will control 25 percent of TJT, which was previously owned wholly by Waskita Toll Road, a subsidiary of debt laden state-owned construction firm Waskita Karya.
The government, Kartika said, had assigned another state-owned construction firm, Hutama Karya, to continue the construction of the three toll roads and had given the company a capital injection of Rp 12.5 trillion (US$810.7 million).
Indebted state-owned publicly-listed construction company PT Waskita Karya Tbk (WSKT) has caused jitters on the stock market after defaulting on Rp 941.75 billion (US$60.38 million) worth of bonds. The State-Owned Enterprises Ministry scrambled to save Waskita by forcing state banks to agree to the company’s 10-year restructuring plan, but private bondholders rebuffed the plan. Waskita’s fate is now uncertain.
