Indonesian jazz prodigy Joey Alexander will reportedly perform at the All Stars Festival in New Morning in Paris on July 18.

Following the news, the Tourism Ministry stated that it would fully support his performance through the Visit Indonesia Tourism Office (VITO) in Paris.

“We support Joey Alexander’s performance in France because his achievements as an international musician can help promote Indonesia, his birthplace, worldwide,” said the ministry's deputy minister for Overseas Promotion, I Gde Pitana.

The 14-year-old musician caught the world’s attention during a performance at last year’s Grammy Awards, in which he was nominated for best jazz instrumental album and best improvised jazz solo.

His performance of his single “Giant Steps” on YouTube has so far garnered more than 1.7 million views. Joey has two albums under his belt, My Favorite Things released in 2015 and Countdown in 2016. (kes)
