Garuda Indonesia adds more Medan-Sabang flights for Sail Sabang 2017

The travel durations for both days are the same, from Medan to Sabang is 10:00 a.m. – 11:35 a.m. and from Sabang to Medan will be at 12:05 p.m. – 01:35 p.m.

or the upcoming Sail Sabang 2017 event that will run from Nov. 28 until Dec. 5, national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia is adding more flights for the Medan – Sabang route.

The existing flights are available every Friday and Sunday. The travel durations for both days are the same, from Medan to Sabang is 10:00 a.m. – 11:35 a.m. and from Sabang to Medan will be at 12:05 p.m. – 01:35 p.m.

The new additional flights will be available only on specific dates beginning on Nov. 29 with the travel time for Medan – Sabang is set at 03:15 p.m. – 04:50 p.m. and the flight back is at 05:20 p.m. – 06:50 p.m.

The next date is on Dec. 1, for Medan – Sabang route the time is 02:05 p.m. – 03:40 p.m. and the flight back is at 04:10 p.m. – 05:40 p.m. On Dec. 2 the flight time from Medan to Sabang is 03:15 p.m. – 04:50 p.m. and the flight back is at 05:20 p.m. – 06:50 p.m. On Dec. 4, the flight time from Medan to Sabang is 01:15 p.m. – 02:50 p.m. and the flight back is at 03:20 p.m. – 04:50 p.m.

Planes used for these flights are ATR 72 600 Series, each with a 70-seat capacity. 

Additionally, visitors can also travel by sea from Ulee Lheue to Balohan using three speedboats and four roll-on/roll-off ships.

Sail Sabang 2017 will feature performances from National Armed Forces (TNI), art and culture performances, freediving competition, underwater photography competition, archipelago culinary festival, wonderful Sabang expo and dozens of other attractions.

A total of 68 yachts from 15 countries and Indonesian warships such as KRI Bimasuci, KRI Dewaruci, KRI Rencong, KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda, KRI Teuku Umar, KRI Imam Bonjol, KRI Banda Aceh and KRI Suharso are participating in this event. (asw)
