Soekarno-Hatta International Airport levels up in world ranking

At the latest Skytrax World Airport Awards 2019, the airport ranked 40th out of 550 airports around the world, a significant improvement from last year, when it placed at 45th place.

oekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten has once again received a nod from United Kingdom-based air travel consultancy Skytrax.

At the latest Skytrax World Airport Awards 2019, the airport ranked 40th out of 550 airports around the world, a significant improvement from last year, when it placed at 45th place.

Soekarno-Hatta also ranked higher than other international airports such as Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (46), Toronto Pearson (50), Kuala Lumpur International Airport (54), Los Angeles (71), Boston Logan (80) and Prague (97).

Additionally, Soekarno-Hatta was also named an airport with the Top 10 Best Airport Staff in Asia 2019.

“All parties helped improve services at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, from [state-owned airport operator] AP II's internal team to airlines, customs, immigration, quarantine, police, ground handling, AirNav and other stakeholders. We are grateful for their role in this achievement," AP II CEO M. Awaluddin said in a statement.

“In the future, we are seeking to increase the airport’s rank to the top 30 list of best airports in the world and so that we can continue to become a source of pride for Indonesia,” he added.

Many facilities have been added to improve the comfort of passengers at the airport, such as the skytrain, high-speed Wi-Fi, improved baggage handling, as well as mobile app INairPort, which displays useful information about the airport. (gis/kes)
