Several hotels in the Indonesian capital have clinched prizes at the 2019 Adikarya Wisata award ceremony held at the JW Marriott hotel in Jakarta on Friday.
Held biannually by the Jakarta Tourism and Culture Agency since 1991, the event recognizes accomplishments in 31 categories across 13 tourist sectors, such as accommodation, restaurant, bar & lounge, airline and tour service.
Twenty Jakarta hotels were nominated in the accommodation category, including Fairmont, Double Tree by Hilton, Grand Kemang and Kosenda.
The winners were Grand Hyatt Jakarta as Best Five-Star Hotel, JS Luwansa as Best Four-Star Hotel, Artotel Thamrin as Best Three-Star Hotel and Pop! Hotel Pasar Baru as Best One-Star or Two-Star Hotel.
Alberto Ali, acting head of the Jakarta Tourism and Culture Agency, said Adikarya Wisata was one of the most awaited events in the industry.
“It brings pride to the industry [players] and can encourage competition for quality. The event also brings new hope for Jakarta tourism,” he said, as quoted by kompas.com.
Thamrin Bachri, head of the jury of the 2019 Adikarya Wisata awards, said the rating system was based on cleanliness, environmental awareness and cultural conservation.
“A clean and environmentally friendly hotel that supports cultural conservation and is adaptable in providing services for its customers can [ensure] tourists’ satisfaction upon visiting Jakarta,” he said.
Adikarya Wisata was previously titled Kelapa Jaya. With its inaugural edition in 1974, it aims to honor companies contributing to Jakarta’s tourist industry. (wng)
