With the summit at only 2,565 meters above sea level, Prau is one of the most popular destinations in Java for rookie mountaineers.
The hiking trail on Mount Prau in Central Java is now open to all travelers.
Previously, the track to the summit was reopened in July to hikers from Central Java and Yogyakarta only.
Hikers who wish to visit the mountain are required to obey the new protocols to help contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
All hikers have to show a health certificate declaring that they are fit to hike and are free from influenza symptoms.
They also have to comply with the social distancing measures, wash their hands regularly with soap and flowing water or use hand sanitizer.
All hikers are urged to bring extra masks and gloves.
Masks have to be worn when hikers interact with each other. After four hours of use, masks should be changed with new ones.

All hikers should bring their own hiking equipment, such as sleeping bags, mattresses, cooking utensils and ingredients, tents, warm jackets, clean clothes and a first aid box.
Tents should accommodate only 50 percent of their capacity. For example, only two people are allowed in a four-person tent.
In the new-normal period, only 250 hikers per day are allowed.
With the summit at only 2,565 meters above sea level, Prau is one of the most popular destinations in Java for rookie mountaineers. The mountain is famous for its relatively easy hiking track and beautiful scenery, including tropical forest, daisy meadow and green hills dubbed the “Teletubbies Hills” due to their resemblance to the hills in the popular children's TV show.
At the summit, hikers can enjoy golden sunrises with the background of misty Central Java villages. During the day, hikers can see the summit of other mountains such as Merapi, Merbabu, Sumbing, Sindoro and Slamet. (gis/wng)
