cargo ship was hit by a rocket off the coast of Ukraine in the Black Sea on Friday, causing a fire on board, Reuters reported, citing a local shipping agent.

The cargo ship Namura Queen's registered owner is a company based in the western Japanese prefecture of Ehime, according to a website providing information on vessels. There is no information yet regarding casualties.

The rocket hit the stern of Namura Queen, which flies the flag of Panama, a Ukrainian shipping agent was quoted as saying. There was a fire on the ship but the situation is "under control," the agent added, according to Reuters.

Ukraine authorities said it was an attack by Russia, which launched a military invasion of Ukraine earlier this week, according to the news agency.
