ndonesia has hailed the recent passage of a United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution calling for Israel to end its annexation of the occupied Palestinian territories, noting that it is prepared to support the resolution’s implementation in the conflict-torn region.

“The resolution supports the [International Court of Justice (ICJ)] advisory opinion that deemed Israel’s continued, prolonged and illegal occupation of Palestine unlawful,” the Foreign Ministry wrote in a statement on Thursday.

“Indonesia stands ready to support the implementation of the resolution and uphold the two-state solution for a just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the Middle East,” it continued.

Some 124 countries cast votes in favor of the resolution on Wednesday, demanding that Israel withdraw its presence in Palestine within the next twelve months.

The resolution detailed that this withdrawal should include the removal of Israeli military forces and all settlers from the occupied territory and the demolition of the separation wall erected in the West Bank.

Also ordered in the resolution were the recovery of land and other “immovable property”, reparations for the damage caused during the occupation and the safe return of displaced Palestinians.
