oreign Minister Sugiono has arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to attend the emergency Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting on Gaza’s reconstruction slated to be held on Friday.
“Upon arriving in Jeddah, I visited the Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) there to directly review the public services carried out by colleagues at the KJRI, ensuring the best protection and service for Indonesian citizens,” Sugiono wrote on his Instagram account on Friday, noting that he had arrived on Thursday.
The Foreign Ministry said during a previous press conference that Indonesia would continue to vehemently oppose any plans that include the displacement of the Palestinian enclave’s population.
Indonesia continues to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, the ministry added, further underlining that Israel has failed to respect the armistice while also signaling to the world that it wished to permanently occupy Palestinian territories.
“We have issued our latest statement condemning Israel’s efforts to botch the agreement by violating initially-agreed terms,” the ministry’s spokesperson, Rolliansyah “Roy” Soemirat said, adding that Friday’s discussions will primarily revolve around further assistance for Palestine.
Sugiono flew to Jeddah from Doha, where he met Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al Thani on Wednesday.
