During his latest Middle-Eastern tour, analysts saw President Prabowo Subianto as too focused on his domestic agenda, rather than the latest geopolitical and geo-economic issues, such as the intensifying rivalry between the United States and China, as well as Trump’s trade tariffs.
resident Prabowo Subianto has returned from his six-day foreign tour to five Middle-Eastern countries; a trip whose strategic significance has been questioned by observers amid the current global economic and political crises.
The President left his last stop, the Jordanian capital of Amman, on Monday, after he strengthened the bilateral ties through several agreements on strategic sectors, including defense, agriculture and education.
Both countries also pledged their readiness for closer cooperation to promote stability and peace in the Middle East, as wars continue in Gaza, Syria and Lebanon.
After receiving a stately welcome at the Al Husseiniya Palace in Amman, Prabowo had a tête-à-tête with his longtime friend King Abdullah II, in which they talked about various issues, including Gaza, Jordan’s role as a custodian of Jerusalem and other issues of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
“I strongly believe that under your leadership, Indonesia will play an important role for us all in resolving various problems,” Abdullah II told Prabowo, as quoted by an Indonesian government statement.
Prabowo said that Jordan had been a good friend of Indonesia, one “with which we feel a sense of solidarity”.
After the closed-door talk, both leaders saw the signing of several agreements in key sectors, with the Indonesian President highlighting the strategic value of cooperation with Jordan on agriculture.
