resident Prabowo Subianto and China's President Xi Jinping discussed a plan to build a wall along the northern coastline of Java, which Jakarta calls the Giant Sea Wall project, Prabowo's office said on Wednesday.

Prabowo met with Xi in Beijing, after making a surprise attendance at China's military parade despite protests at home.

Prabowo's government has previously said the wall project for climate adaptation would take 15 to 20 years to build with a total cost of $80 billion.

In late August, President Prabowo inaugurated a new agency tasked with the construction of a giant sea wall along the northern coast of Java.

The Authority for the Management of the Northern Coast Of Java would be in charge of designing, constructing and managing the planned giant sea wall.

In the meeting, President Xi also told Prabowo that China supports President Prabowo's governance and backs Indonesia in restoring order and stability as soon as possible, state news agency Xinhua reported.
