brahamic religious leaders have delivered a plea for Israel to end military offences and pursue peace in war-torn Gaza, stressing the urgent need to stop the humanitarian crisis and strengthen unity across faiths.
Three leaders from Christianity, Judaism and Islam grouped under the Abrahamic Project, an interfaith living exchange initiative initiated by Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) founder and former deputy foreign minister Dino Patti Djalal, addressed the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
They urged aid distribution to residents affected by the war and an end to the armed conflict in the region.
“Our plea is for Israel to allow international aid to be quickly distributed by United Nations agencies without obstruction, and to allow foreign press back into Gaza to ensure accountability and transparency,” Reverend Ryhan Prasad from Wellington, New Zealand, read from a statement at a press briefing on Tuesday. The plea has also been posted on Change.org.
“We seek Israel to [enact] an immediate and sustained ceasefire to end the killing and protect all civilians without distinction,” the priest added, “as well as to cease all actions that continue to destroy or impede the infrastructure needed for the Palestinian people’s society to function.”

Prasad said the group sought to see the conflict in Palestine through a theological and moral perspective through the plea, posing it as a “critique of what we think runs against the grain of what our faiths say”.
