Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka departed for Johannesburg, South Africa, on Friday to represent President Prabowo Subianto at the G20 Summit.

Gibran left Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta at 9:30 a.m., accompanied by his delegation, and arrived later that day at O.R. Tambo International Airport after a nearly 11-hour flight.

According to a press release from the Vice President's Secretariat, Gibran’s attendance reflects “the government’s commitment under President Prabowo’s leadership to playing an active role in global economic recovery and strengthening international cooperation.”

The summit hosted by South Africa runs from Saturday to Sunday at the Johannesburg Expo Centre amid geopolitical tension, including a boycott by United States President Donald Trump, who has accused the South African government of discriminating against white citizens.

During the high-level gathering, Gibran is expected to deliver a speech on behalf of Prabowo, outlining Indonesia’s stance on key global issues.

On the sidelines of the summit, he is also scheduled to hold several bilateral meetings with leaders of partner countries to convey Prabowo’s messages and discuss efforts to deepen cooperation.
