ndonesia has expressed deep concern over reported missile and drone strikes targeting oil facilities in the United Arab Emirates, urging all sides to exercise maximum restraint as stability in the Middle East hangs on a fragile ceasefire.
In a statement that did not name any perpetrators, Jakarta said it stood ready to support de-escalation efforts, warning that any further escalation in the conflict would carry global repercussions.
“Such attacks risk further escalating tensions, undermining the ceasefire, and disrupting global energy supply chains and broader energy security, with consequences extending well beyond the immediate region,” the Foreign Ministry wrote on its official X account on Wednesday.
“Indonesia urges all parties to exercise maximum restraint, to respect the ceasefire in full, and uphold international law, including the protection of civilian infrastructure,” it continued.
Tensions in the Middle East have flared again this week after a fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran briefly eased fighting on key fronts, with recent clashes in the Strait of Hormuz now testing the limits of the truce.
The latest turmoil began on Sunday after US President Donald Trump declared an end to “Operation Epic Fury”, a campaign targeting Iran since late February, and announced the launch of “Project Freedom”, aimed at securing safe passage for thousands of commercial vessels stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.
