ey ministers of the Red and White Cabinet are gearing up for the impending state visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on Thursday in Jakarta, as the Eastern European nation seeks to expand trade with Indonesia in key commodities, including palm oil.

Foreign Minister Sugiono met with his Belarusian counterpart Maxim Ryzhenkov on Tuesday to set discussion topics for Lukashenko’s visit, covering economic cooperation, agriculture, food security, science and technology as well as culture.

The visit is also expected to mark the launch of the Indonesia-Belarus Road Map for Bilateral Cooperation 2026-2030.

Sugiono and Ryzhenkov “believe the state visit by President Aleksandr Lukashenko will strengthen Indonesia-Belarus ties and produce cooperation that delivers tangible benefits for the citizens of both countries, " the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) held the Indonesia-Belarus Business Forum and Business Matching in Jakarta, ahead of Lukashenko’s visit.

Belarus is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), a key partner for Indonesia following the signing of the Indonesia-EAEU Free Trade Agreement in December 2025.

The ministry’s statement cited Coordinating Economy Minister Airlangga Hartarto as saying that he expected the forum to translate strong bilateral ties into a tangible economic partnership.
