uick service restaurant Taco Bell has finally arrived in Jakarta, bringing with it the bold flavors of Mexican-inspired foods that have elevated its renown around the world, crafted with fresh ingredients that are mostly sourced locally.

Those who have been anticipating the flagship Taco Bell, located in the Senopati area in the southern district of the Indonesian capital, can finally dig into dishes from Loaded Nachos, to Crunchwrap Supreme and to Grilled Stuft Burrito. They can either dine in at the restaurant in keeping with the health and safety protocols, or take the food away to enjoy at home.

Inaugurated on Friday, Taco Bell Jakarta marks the brand’s first expansion to Southeast Asia in living up to its philosophy of “Live Más”, which loosely translates to “live more”. The flagship outlet also features the open kitchen concept that allows customers to see their orders being prepared under strict hygiene and safety measures.

Director Justinus Dalimin Juwono of PT Fast Food Indonesia, the Indonesian licensee for the Taco Bell franchise, said the newly opened outlet was a coveted addition to the company’s other brand, KFC Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Fast Food Indonesia’s marketing general manager, Hendra Yuniarto, said the company had been testing the local market and sourcing local ingredient suppliers for Taco Bell since 2019.

Hendra added that he believed Taco Bell had great potential in Indonesia.

“We also hope to introduce the brand to other areas in Indonesia in the future, and we will continue to study and perfect the products offered by Taco Bell for the Indonesian market,” he said during the store opening on Friday, which was livestreamed on YouTube.

Exclusively available in Indonesia, the Bell Rice is served with sambal korek (chili sauce) as well as pico de gallo salsa, fresh lettuce and nacho chips.

One dish that has been specifically created for the Indonesian palate is the Bell Rice, which combines Mexican seasoned rice with grilled chicken, spicy sambal korek (chili relish made with garlic and bird’s eye chili), pico de gallo salsa and fresh lettuce, along with nacho chips for the added crunch. Sound too spicy for you? Then Taco Bell’s iconic Nacho Cheese Sauce might be just the thing, poured atop a generous portion of nachos that’s great for sharing. Or you could opt for the Naked Chicken Taco, which turns the taco inside out with the actual wrap made from crispy chicken.

Taco Bell Indonesia is also proud to announce that its food and beverage products are all certified as halal.

To ensure the wellbeing of both customers and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to comply with the health and safety standards for restaurants across the globe, Taco Bell Jakarta is running a 50 percent dine-in capacity. It also has a designated takeaway counter to avoid crowds and a semi-outdoor seating area to provide good air circulation. The restaurant has also adjusted its opening and closing times to comply with city regulations.
