The entity that resulted from the merger of Indosat Ooredoo and Hutchison 3 Indonesia plans to expand its operations to 7,660 villages and subdistricts by 2025.
ndosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH), the entity that resulted from the merger of telecommunications giants Indosat Ooredoo and Hutchison 3 Indonesia (Tri), has set itself a target to expand its operations to at least 7,660 villages and subdistricts by 2025.
IOH SVP-head of corporate communications Steve Saerang said, however, that the company had yet to determine the new network coverage areas.
“The company will go on regional visits and discuss investment commitments in each region,” he told reporters on Tuesday.
The move would expand the company’s network to cover 59,538 villages.
Indosat rolled out a commercial 5G network in five cities across the country last year. When asked about access to the 5G network for Tri customers, Steve said the company would conduct “gradual network synergy” throughout the year.

“With the merger, we have sufficient spectrum for an even better 5G deployment. Rolling out 5G requires intensive capital, and this merger strengthens our financial ability,” IOH director and chief regulatory officer Muhammad Danny Buldansyah said during a press conference on Tuesday.
