Astra increases investment in healthtech firm Halodoc

Astra International, through its subsidiary Astra Digital Internasional, has led another funding series in Halodoc, raising its total investment to US$135 million for the company since 2021.

everal investors have injected a sum of US$100 million into healthtech platform Halodoc in a series D funding round, led by publicly listed diversified conglomerate Astra International, through its subsidiary Astra Digital Internasional.

In 2021, Astra also led an $80 million series C round for the tech company in 2021 along with other investors. With the recent funding, Astra has invested as much as $135 million in Halodoc since 2021.

“The high demand for access to quality healthcare services has boosted adoption of digital technology in health care,” said Astra president director Djony Bunarto Tjondro in a statement on Friday.

Launched in 2016, Halodoc has facilitated access to more than 20,000 medical practitioners, 3,300 hospitals and 4,900 pharmacies. As of 2022, the healthtech platform boasted over 20 million monthly active users connecting to its services regularly.

The COVID-19 pandemic indirectly influenced public interest in using telemedicine platforms. Approximately 17.9 million health-consultation activities were recorded from 19 telemedicine companies in 2022, according to data from the Indonesian Telemedicine Alliance (Atensi).
