resident Prabowo Subianto has added two new directorate generals to the Finance Ministry, the Economic and Fiscal Strategy Directorate General and the Financial Sector Stability and Development Directorate General.
The President will need to appoint new heads for the directorate generals, with recommendations from the finance minister as stipulated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 158/2024 issued on Tuesday.
The regulation will also merge the Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF) and the Economic and Fiscal Strategy Directorate General, Finance Ministry spokesperson Deni Surjantoro said in a statement on Thursday.
Previously, BKF was responsible for formulating policies on subsidies, the delayed carbon tax, the planned excise on sweetened beverages and several other fiscal incentives.
“The Economic and Fiscal Strategy directorate general is responsible for organizing the formulation and implementation of economic and fiscal strategies in accordance with the law,” according to Article 13 of the newly passed regulation.
The ministry will also see the establishment of the Financial Technology, Information and Intelligence Agency.
