Executives stress need for unity for the lobby group to pursue its key mission or representing business interests.
he Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) will hold a national leadership meeting on Nov. 29 to seek to resolve a leadership rift between Arsjad Rasjid and Anindya Bakrie that has divided the country’s biggest lobby group.
The convention is set to finalize plans for a new election to formally select a chairman in a national general meeting according to Kadin bylaws, a decision that follows a Sept. 27 agreement facilitated by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia.
Kadin executive Eka Sastra said on Tuesday that the upcoming congress represented Kadin’s commitment to maintaining unity and cohesion within the group, underscoring Kadin’s role as a bridge between the government and the private sector.
“We have a target of 8 percent economic growth, and this target can only be achieved if there is unity between businesspeople, the government and the people,” said Eka at a press conference at the group’s Jakarta headquarters.
