pple is close to striking a deal with Indonesia to lift a ban on the sale of its iPhone 16, according to a government minister, but the industry minister remains unconvinced.
The government has prohibited the sale of iPhone 16 devices in the country, having found the United States tech giant noncompliant with a rule that its products meet local content requirements for smartphones, tablets and laptops.
The company had been in discussions with the government over an investment package that would lift the restrictions.
Investment and Downstream Minister Rosan Roeslani told Bloomberg Television on Tuesday in Davos, Switzerland, that discussions were progressing.
“I strongly believe it will be resolved very, very soon,” Rosan said, as quoted from Bloomberg. “Hopefully within one or two weeks this issue can be resolved.”
