ndonesia and Turkey inked an agreement to boost renewable energy development during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s state visit on Wednesday.
According to a statement issued by the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry on Wednesday, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by energy minister Bahlil Lahadalia and his Turkish counterpart Alparslan Bayraktar includes cooperation on power generation, electricity distribution and transmission, renewable energy and hydrocarbon development.
The pact also includes a deal to advance technologies related to hydrogen, nuclear energy and batteries.
“With the support and collaboration from international partners, we can pursue our energy self-sufficiency [goal] as per President Prabowo’s directive,” Bahlil said on Wednesday, as quoted in the statement.
The signing ceremony at the presidential palace in Bogor, West Java, was witnessed by President Prabowo Subianto and Turkey’s Erdoğan.

Bahlil said the cooperation would last five years and could be extended by another five years with an agreement between the two countries.
