National Economic Council (DEN) chair Luhut Pandjaitan says that bank account ownership for every household in the country would play an important role in GovTech, paving the way for targeted social aid disbursement.
resident Prabowo Subianto has ordered his aides to ensure that all Indonesians have bank accounts, as his administration seeks to implement an integrated government services platform dubbed GovTech in mid-August.
National Economic Council (DEN) chair Luhut Pandjaitan, said bank account ownership for every household in the country would play an important role in GovTech, paving the way for targeted social aid disbursement.
“In January [2026], we will begin testing GovTech with direct social aid [disbursement] to achieve the target,” Luhut said during a press conference on Thursday.
President Prabowo has planned to launch GovTech during the nation’s Independence Day on August 17 this year, he said.
Other benefits of GovTech included improving efficiency by integrating the application across multiple government institutions, as well as reducing opportunities for corruption, he said.
He estimated this initiative could save as much as Rp 100 trillion [US$6 billion] in the state budget, with that number expected to increase over the long term.
“The study and the work in integration have been done. The President has also planned to meet 300 young people that have prepared this government technology and 185 teachers from all over Indonesia,” Luhut added.
