t was a bittersweet historic moment for Swiss German University (SGU) on Monday, as the school awarded diplomas to a total of 168 graduates from three faculties. The students, who were previously enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs, donned their caps and gowns as the university deemed them ready to face the complex and diverse global challenges.
The momentous occasion bore the theme "Enhancing Agility Toward Global Competitiveness," which reflected the importance of adaptability, leadership and creativity in facing increasingly fierce global competition. SGU is confident that its students are able to take on the challenge as they go out into the professional world.
SGU chancellor, Dr. Dip. Ing. Samuel P. Kusomocahyo said that in order to achieve adaptive independence, we must have competitiveness and be able to win opportunities created in the current era of digital globalization. In this case, universities have a very important role in forming and developing the characteristics of their students.
Therefore, since its inception, SGU has been committed to preparing its students as global learners and game changers. To enrich more of their education, the school increases collaborative engagement concepts with prestigious universities abroad to give a broader world understanding.
These partnerships with European universities include the International Management Institute (IMI) in Switzerland, as well as Hochschule Albstadt-Sigmaringen, Fachhochschule Südwestfalen and the University of Applied Sciences Jena in Germany. Moreover, collaboration also exists in Asia, namely with SolBridge International School of Business in South Korea and Hokkaido University in Japan, as well as with the University of Missouri-Kansas City in the United States.
It is hoped that the concept of collaborative development and strength of SGU’s network will create solutions to various challenges in the future, as the partnerships also become a vessel to increase research across scientific fields related to innovation, technology, strengthening the economy, health and renewable energy.
SGU is committed to providing high-quality education and preparing its students to be able to compete at the global level. The school vows that it will always be a strategic partner for stakeholders to create human resources by producing graduates who have superior competitiveness. The growth and development of SGU is the result of the achievements of all parties and university leadership who have continuously worked hard, been adaptive and agile.
