T Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) is deeply committed to fostering entrepreneurial spirit among all members of society, including those with disabilities. On May 15, the PNM branch in Bekasi organized a training session specifically tailored for individuals with disabilities titled "Entrepreneurship Training for People with Disabilities in West Java." The event took place at Hotel AsiaLink Premier Karawang.
Angkie Yudistia, the special staff for disabilities to the President, attended alongside 100 disability community members from West Java.
Angkie expressed delight at PNM's consistent efforts at nurturing entrepreneurship among individuals with disabilities. She hopes that these efforts will continue to foster independence among this group through business development. Angkie firmly believes that people with disabilities have unique strengths in business development.
Arief Mulyadi, the CEO of PT PNM, explained that PNM sees the need to provide opportunities based on individuals' competencies, in line with Law No. 8/2016 on disabilities. This is done by ensuring they have the necessary platforms to reach their full potential, become future innovators, and support inclusive economic systems.
"PNM opens wide opportunities for friends with disabilities to join as PNM customers and employees. This is part of PNM's contribution to sustainable development, especially in reducing societal gaps. We are committed to achieving sustainable development goals, as PNM fundamentally aids the government in boosting national economic growth and reducing societal disparities," Arief said in his written statement.
Petrus Agus Mulyono, the head of PNM in Bekasi, emphasized that the event not only covered theoretical content but also included visits to micro and small businesses run by people with disabilities. The training covered financing access through PNM along with business mentoring.
"PNM provides broad access to micro and small business owners, including people with disabilities. We provide business funding and mentoring. For those needing better packaging, we strive for quality packaging; for those needing online training, we provide it," explained Petrus.
The training covered financing, mentoring, business legality aspects, branding, packaging and online sales strategies.
PNM is a financing and mentoring institution for underprivileged women in Indonesia's ultra-micro-business sector. PNM not only provides business funding but also conducts various training programs to improve product quality. To date, PNM has 15.2 million customers across Indonesia.
In essence, PNM works toward empowering customers through financing and mentoring. Financing and mentoring are two sides of the same coin that cannot be separated.
