T Pertamina Patra Niaga reaffirms its commitment to sustainability by obtaining the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) for the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) and the Renewable Energy Directive-European Union (RED-EU). This marks an important step in the provision of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Southeast Asia, while also strengthening its position as a pioneer in the aviation industry committed to global carbon emission reduction.

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Central and Commerce Division marketing director Maya Kusmaya, revealed that this achievement is a testament to the company's dedication to supporting the transition to more environmentally friendly fuels. “With this certification, Pertamina Patra Niaga becomes the first operator in Southeast Asia to market ISCC CORSIA certified SAF. This is a milestone in the regional energy industry, opening up opportunities for airlines in Indonesia and the surrounding areas to use fuel that significantly reduces their carbon footprint,” explained Maya.

This certification was directly awarded by the PT Qualitas Sertifikat Indonesia CEO Ryanza Prasetya, to PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Central and Commercial Division marketing director, Maya Kusmaya, witnessed in person by PT Pertamina Strategy, Portfolio and Business Development director Salyadi Saputra, on Aug. 19 in Jakarta. The certificate was presented at the event Paving the Way to Net-Zero: HVO & SAF, with the theme Driving Change Through Renewable Fuels hosted by Pertamina.

Maya said this certification allowed customers to claim carbon emission reductions from SAF products produced by Pertamina. “With the ISCC certification for SAF products as well as for used cooking oil (UCO) and hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) from Pertamina, customers can now make claims about the carbon emission reductions resulting from the use of these fuels,” Maya added.

The Ngurah Rai Aviation Fuel Terminal (AFT) in Bali and the Soekarno-Hatta Aviation Fuel Terminal & Hydrant Installation (SHAFTHI) in Jakarta were the first locations to receive ISCC CORSIA and ISCC EU certification. AFT Ngurah Rai, as a strategic location, is prepared to support the Bali International Air Show 2024, which is expected to expand the use of Pertamina SAF in the international aviation market.

“Pertamina Patra Niaga is committed to continuing to lead in innovation and sustainability, becoming a key partner for airlines in realizing a greener and more sustainable future,” said Maya.

On another occasion, PT Pertamina Corporate Communication VP Fadjar Djoko Santoso, said that Pertamina continues to expand the use of environmentally friendly fuels to reduce carbon emissions.

“Various decarbonization initiatives have been undertaken by Pertamina to achieve the net-zero emissions by 2060 target or sooner,” concluded Fajar.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the field of energy transition, is committed to supporting the 206 net-zero emissions target by continually advancing programs that directly impact the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All these efforts align with the implementation of environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles across all business lines and operations of Pertamina.
