The PDI-P central board summoned Gibran to appear at the party's headquarters in Central Jakarta on Monday to give details from his meeting with Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto.
Mayor of Surakarta, Central Java, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the eldest son of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, met on Monday with the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) secretary-general Hasto Kristiyanto in what the former described as a "clarification meeting".
The PDI-P central board summoned Gibran to appear at the party's headquarters in Central Jakarta on Monday to give details from his meeting with Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto.
Speaking after the meeting, Gibran said he was prepared to face any consequences for his decision to have a meeting with Prabowo last week in Surakarta.
"I am not trying to avoid anything. I am just a little boy, a new member. So please, give me a reprimand," Gibran was quoted as saying by Antara.
Gibran, who claimed to have received a call from Ganjar the day after his meeting with Prabowo, said he could defend his decision to hold a one-on-one with Prabowo.
He said there had been nothing political about the meeting and it had been nothing but a dinner.
"It was just a dinner and I stayed away when he was giving his speech," Gibran said.
