The acting Jakarta governor warned that the city’s poorly performing civil servants would be transferred to the Nusantara in East Kalimantan.
cting Jakarta governor Heru Budi Hartono warned on Tuesday that poorly performing civil servants in the Jakarta provincial administration could be transferred to the new capital Nusantara in East Kalimantan.
“If you don’t work well, by the latest [Civil Servants] Law, I will send you to IKN,” Heru said, as quoted by tempo.co, referring to the city by its acronym Nusantara Capital City (IKN).
Heru gave a speech at the Toward the Future of Jakarta as a Global City seminar taking place at Taman Ismail Marzuki in Jakarta, where 750 third-echelon officials were in attendance.
The seminar focused on the future of Jakarta after losing its status as the nation’s capital.
During the seminar, Heru urged Jakarta employees to perform well, emphasizing that the city’s development after its capital status change rested in their hands.
However, Heru assured Jakarta’s civil servants that they should not be upset about a potential transfer to Nusantara, as there were various benefits, including promotion opportunities.
“Two years from now, you can be given a promotion. But you shouldn’t go to the big cities, I’m suggesting you go to [Nusantara],” he said.
