Doni Monardo, former BNPB chief and head of the COVID-19 task force, passed away following an illness on Sunday. The funeral was held at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery on Monday, led by Army chief of staff Gen. Maruli Simanjuntak.
ormer chief of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Lt. Gen. (ret) Doni Monardo died on Sunday and was buried at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery (TMP) in South Jakarta, on Monday morning.
"Tomorrow [Tuesday] morning, [Doni] will be interned at the Army’s Special Forces [Kopassus] Command headquarters, then buried at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery," said Army Retirees Association (PPAD) representative Brig. Gen. (ret) Bambang Irianto on Sunday evening, as quoted by state news agency Antara.
Bambang said the funeral at Kalibata would be led by Army chief Gen. Maruli Simanjuntak.
"May all [Doni’s] sins be forgiven, his deeds of worship be accepted, and may he have a noble place in the sight of Allah SWT," he added.
The news of Doni’s passing came from a BNPB expert staff member Egy Massadiah.
He died at the age of 60 at 5:35 p.m. in Siloam Semanggi Hospital, Jakarta, where he was being treated for an illness. After his passing, the former COVID-19 task force chief was taken to a funeral home in Tangerang, Banten.
Doni graduated from the Military Academy in 1985. His professional career thrived while serving in the Army, earning the trust of several Indonesian presidents.
