member of the Indonesian Military (TNI) was arrested on Friday for allegedly assaulting Rizki Agus Saputra, an Indonesian Muslim Students Action Front (KAMMI) board member, in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.
The Jayakarta Military Command’s Military Police Detachment commander Col. Irsyad Hamdie Bey Anwar confirmed the arrest.
“Right, we have investigated [the case]. The perpetrator is a member of the Indonesian Air Force,” he said on Sunday, as quoted by Kompas.com.
“Currently the legal process is carried out by the Halim Perdananakusuma Air Force Base’s Military Police Unit.”
Irsyad asserted that the motive for the assault was a dispute between the two parties on the road.
The assailant was in uniform as seen in a CCTV recording broadcast by Kompas TV on Sunday.
However, Rizki denied any road-related dispute in an online press conference on Sunday.
