Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan and running mate Muhaimin Iskandar made their final push for votes with a rally at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) in the capital on Saturday morning, the last day of campaigning before voting day next week.
Before his supporters at the rally, Anies went with his pro-change narrative, saying that the people had seen enough inequality and injustice.
“Our responsibility is to stop injustice and inequality and bring change [for the country],” the former Jakarta governor said.
Anies also warned his supporters about potential election fraud, calling for the public to keep tabs on the balloting process.
Thousands of attendees filled nearly the entire stadium, which has a capacity of 82,000 seats. The stadium holds special meaning as Anies’ landmark project during his time serving as the Jakarta governor.
The 75-day campaign season ends on Saturday, followed by a three-day election silence until Tuesday before voters cast their ballots next week on Feb. 14.
