Front-runner presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and his running mate Gibran Rakabuming Raka wrapped up the campaign season on Saturday at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) stadium in Jakarta with a final push to win next week’s election in a single round.
Prabowo made his speech earlier than scheduled due to the outpour of hundreds of thousands of supporters filling the 77,000-seater stadium.
“We will be a president and vice president for all people, regardless of their backgrounds,” Prabowo said. “We will be a great, prosperous nation. For that to happen, we must unite and maintain harmony among people.”
Prabowo also promised to eradicate poverty, including by planning to provide free lunch to every child across the country if they were elected, and to continue the programs of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, whose son is Gibran.
Prabowo, who has been building his new image, from a military hard-man to a “gemoy” (adorable) persona with a penchant for spontaneous dance, ended his speech with a brief dance for his supporters.

Prabowo has seen his electability rise steadily across various opinion surveys since he named Gibran as his running mate before campaigning began on Nov. 28 and his team has been pushing the narrative of a single-round victory, allegedly to avoid unnecessary or prolonged political division among the public after the election.
