he campaign team of Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto said on Friday that a number of foreign leaders had congratulated him on his likely win in the 2024 presidential election.

Spokesperson for Prabowo's campaign team Budisatrio Djiwandono said in a statement that Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Czech Republic Prime Minister Petr Fiala, were among world leaders congratulating him on the expected election victory based on the unofficial "quick count' results.

"These world leaders were among the first to congratulate him based on the quick count results," Budisatrio was quoted by Antara.

Budisatrio said the congratulatory messages could be seen as an indication that some neighboring countries had recognized the likelihood of Prabowo and his running mate Gibran Rakabuming Raka leading the country for the next five years.

"This is also a recognition of the democratic process that proceeded well, and that they are ready to continue bilateral ties with Indonesia and the newly elected president," Budisatrio said.

On Thursday, Prabowo posted on Instagram a picture of him with a phone held to his ear and wrote that Albanese had called to congratulate him, as well as the leaders of Singapore, Malaysia and Sri Lanka.
