T

he Constitutional Court has summoned four ministers responsible for the government’s social assistance (Bansos) program to testify in the case disputing the results of the 2024 presidential election, particularly with regard to an allegation that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo orchestrated the Bansos distribution in the weeks up to Feb. 14 in an attempt to sway voters toward the eventual winner, Prabowo Subianto.

Losing candidates Anies Baswedan and Ganjar Pranowo, who have teamed up to challenge the election results, accuse Jokowi and his aides of using state facilities and resources in an attempt to effect a favorable outcome for Prabowo, who ran alongside Jokowi’s eldest son Gibran Rakabuming Raka for vice president.

The four ministers are: Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister Muhadjir Effendy, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and and Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini.

They are scheduled to testify at a hearing on April 5.

Constitutional Court Chief Justice Suhartoyo said the ministers’ depositions were critical to the case.

“As a judicial institution, it is important to conduct a trial that is inter partes [involving all parties],” Suhartoyo said on Monday, as quoted by Antara.
