The PDI-P dismissed Bobby Nasution last year for supporting Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the 2024 presidential election.
he Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) has warned its members to fully support the party’s ticket for the upcoming North Sumatra gubernatorial election, Edy Rahmayadi and Hasan Basri Sagala, on pain of being expelled from the party.
PDI-P party executive Djarot Saiful Hidayat said any PDI-P members found to have supported the rival ticket of Bobby Nasution and Surya, would be severely punished.
“In the case of [a member supporting] the ticket of Bobby Nasution, the sanction is strict: dismissal,” Djarot said during a party meeting in Batu Bara regency on Sunday, kompas.com reported.
More than 10 million voters in North Sumatra will select their new governor on Nov. 27, with former governor Edy and Medan Mayor Bobby locking horns in the election in the country’s most populous province outside of Java. Bobby is former president Joko "Jokowi" Widodo son-in-law.
