Indonesia Decides

A local poll administrators (KPPS) chairman in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan, passed away on Tuesday allegedly due to exhaustion after preparing for the voting day.

Aron Arnold, 54, who presided over polling station (TPS) 66 in Menteng sub district, passed away on Tuesday night, a day before the elections.

According to his relative, Erickson D. Luper, the deceased is believed to have died from exhaustion after spending the entire day preparing the polling station and distributing ballots.

"The deceased was the local poll administration chairman on Jl. G Obos [in the Menteng sub district]. He had a health condition, suffering from acid reflux," Erickson told Kompas.com on Wednesday.

The chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Palangkaraya chapter, Joko Anggoro, said that based on information he received from the family, the deceased had been complaining about his health condition since Tuesday morning.

He even requested an injection at the emergency room before resuming his duties to prepare the polling station in the afternoon.
