Police have named four suspects, including two Kohod village officials, alleging they forged documents to fraudulently issue land permits in connection with the bamboo fence installed illegally off the coast of Tangerang, Banten.
he National Police have named two officials of Kohod village in Tangerang as suspects in the infamous case surrounding a makeshift sea barrier installed in the waters off the regency in Banten, alleging they had forged right to build (HGB) permits and ownership certificates (SHM) for coastal land opposite the illegal structure.
Alongside Kohod village head Arsin and village secretary Ujang Karta, the police’s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) have also named two proxies, identified only by their initials SP and CE, as suspects.
Arsin and the three other suspects allegedly forged girik, a land ownership letter with limited guarantees akin to a non-warranty deed, and other necessary documents to issue hundreds of land deeds between December 2023 and November 2024.
“The suspects made it seem like the applicants submitted requests for land [surveys] through KJSB [licensed surveying firm] Raden Muhammad Lukman and [HGB permits] through the Tangerang Land Agency,” Bareskrim general crimes director Brig. Gen. Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro said on Tuesday, as quoted by Antara.
“As a result, 260 certificates were issued on behalf of Kohod residents” without their knowledge or consent, he said.
At a press conference on Feb. 14, Arsin’s lawyer Rendy Kurniawan said he would take legal action over his client’s suspect status, Kompas TV reported, adding that Arsin “feels like he has been victimized by the actions of SP and CE”, without elaborating.
