Megadeth rocks Jakarta's Hammersonic Festival 2017

American thrash metal band Megadeth closed the Hammersonic Festival 2017 at Ecopark, Ancol in Central Jakarta last Sunday.

American thrash metal band Megadeth closed the Hammersonic Festival 2017 at Ecopark, Ancol in Central Jakarta last Sunday.

The band kicked off the performance before thousands of metalheads on an outdoor stage in the Ecopark at 11:15 p.m. They began the show with a long distorted guitar noise before continuing to “Hangar 18”, the first song of the night.

“It’s time to wake up death!” vocalist Dave Mustaine shouted to the crowd before continuing to the next song, “Wake Up Dead”.

The band, which is composed of Mustaine, lead guitarist Kiko Loureiro, drummer Chris Adler and bassist David Ellefson rocked the crowd with its strong stage presence during the almost two-hour performance. Among the songs performed in the event included tracks from the latest album Dystopia, as well as several past hits, which included “Symphony of Destruction” and “The Threat is Real”.

Prior to Megadeth, the crowd enjoyed performances from foreign and local metal artists, such as Earth Crisis, Northlane, Seringai, Burgerkill, Siksa Kubur and Sucker Head. According to kompas.com¸ Megadeth was the highest-paid performer in the festival. (mas/asw)
