witter Indonesia revealed on Wednesday its list of most popular figures and accounts on the social media platform throughout 2017. 

Former Jakarta governor Basuki "Ahok" Tajahaja Purnama was this year's most talked about figure on Twitter, as reported by Antara news agency.

He was followed by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, who is active on Twitter, as the second most mentioned person. Sitting in third place was Ahok's successor, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

Meanwhile, singer Agnez Mo topped the list as the Indonesian with the most followers, which, as of Wednesday, amounted to 17.4 million. The number rose by eight percent from last year, when Agnez had 16.1 followers. 

Blogger and stand-up comedian Raditya Dika sat in second place with 16.3 million followers, an increase from 14.5 million last year.

The third most followed account was online news website Detik, with 14.7 million followers. 

Twitter Indonesia also revealed the most popular hashtags in 2017, with #Persibday topping the list. The hashtag is commonly used by fans of soccer team Persib Bandung on match day.

The second most popular hashtag was #JumatBerkah (#BlessfulFriday), which is used on Fridays to express gratitude for the coming weekend.

K-pop band Bangtan Boys' concert in Jakarta also generated a lot of Twitter buzz, with the hashtag #WingTourinJakarta placing third in 2017's most used hashtags. (liz/kes)
