Digital entrepreneur Aulia “Llia” Halimatussadiah believes that the future of tech is female.
Llia got her first computer when she was still young and she was instantly hooked.
“I was the cool kid with a computer,” she told The Jakarta Post during a recent interview.
At a time when few business had their own websites, teachers and friends’ parents would commission Llia to create one for them.
An avid writer of stories and poetry, Llia wanted a place to share her work. She then created her own website complete with simulated falling snow in the background -- just to see if she could.
Today, she is a highly successful web developer and businesswoman who has built a career creating websites to enable emerging authors to get the recognition that their work deserves. These websites are NulisBuku.com, which serves as a platform for writers to publish their work online, and Storial.com, a social storytelling platform that allows writers to write their books one chapter at a time.
As an entrepreneur, Llia has come a long way since her early days working as a programmer at a bank. During that time, she said, she found the corporate IT environment totally unwelcoming for women with its late hours, card games and endless smoking.
