Crowdfunding platform BenihBaik.com has teamed up with e-commerce platform Tokopedia for charity programs.

According to a statement received by The Jakarta Post, Tokopedia users, known as Toppers, are now able to donate Rp 500 (less than 10 US cents) to BenihBaik.com while conducting a transaction on the platform.

The first phase of the fundraising program is slated to run until Dec. 24 and the funds collected will be used to renovate an Islamic junior high school, Madrasah Tsanawiyah Sunanul Huda, in Bogor, West Java.

Tokopedia is said to have 90 million active users in 97 percent of districts across Indonesia. The program is in-line with BenihBaik.com’s goals to help people in various fields, including education, health and the environment, as well as to improve the welfare of those in need.

“At least 10 percent of the Indonesian population are still living below the poverty line, which means around 26 million people need help,” said BenihBaik.com CEO Andy F. Noya.

In addition to collaboration with Tokopedia, those who want to contribute to the charity program can use other digital wallets, such as DANA, OVO, Link Aja! and Gopay. Alternatively, people can also donate via bank transfer.

Based on the 2018 World Giving Index by British organization Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), which named Indonesia as the most generous country in the world, BenihBaik.com expressed confidence that more people would be willing to help others. (jes/wng)
