Mudik is to compete against seven other Asian films at the 2020 CinemAsia Film Festival.
ndonesian movie Mudik (Homecoming) is to compete at the 2020 CinemAsia Film Festival slated for March 4 to 8 at Studio/K and Rialto in Amsterdam, Holland.
The film, which runs for one hour and 33 minutes, would compete against seven other Asian movies for the Jury Award.
A collaborative effort between Relate Films and Lifelike Pictures, Mudik is to have its European premiere at the festival and be screened twice: on March 4 at 7 p.m. and March 8 at 5 p.m.
“I’m glad that Mudik can represent Indonesian films to compete at international film festivals,” Sheila Timothy, the film’s co-producer from Lifelike Pictures, said in a statement, adding that the film was slated to be released in Indonesia this year.
Directed by Adriyanto Dewo, Mudik follows a married couple, Firman (Ibnu Jamil) and Aida (Putri Ayudya), who are traveling to their hometown days prior to Idul Fitri. During the journey they are involved in an accident that claims a man's life and later forces Aida to find answers to questions she has been longing to know.

Last year, the movie competed in and had its world premiere at the International Film Festival and Awards Macao (IFFAM) on Dec. 9.
The CinemAsia Film Festival is an annual event that highlights independent Asian films. About 30 movies are to be screened throughout the festival, divided into several categories, including Official Selection, LGBTQ and Diaspora.
Aside from Mudik, other Indonesian movies, namely A Man Called Ahok, Bumi Manusia (This Earth of Mankind) and Gundala, are to be screened at the festival. (wir/kes)
