The album features six tracks recorded during a live concert at Kaaitheater in Brussels, Belgium, in January 2018.
Rully Shabara of Senyawa said their friendship started when O’Malley visited Yogyakarta, Senyawa’s home base, in 2017.
“Prior to his visit, he had known Senyawa through listening to our releases. When he visited Yogyakarta, he immediately looked for Wukir (Senyawa’s string player),” Rully told The Jakarta Post on Friday.
The friendship eventually led to art-making when O’Malley’s partner, theater director and choreographer Gisèle Vienne, offered to produce a performance project.
