JAKARTA: On the last day of the year-end holidays, Jakarta was scheduled to receive more than 13,000 passengers on Sunday alone, an official said.
State-owned railway company PT Kereta Api increased the frequency of four trains, namely Argolawu from Solo and Yogyakarta, Cirebon Ekspress from Cirebon, Parahyangan from Bandung and Argogede from Bandung.
Deputy head of Gambir Station in Central Jakarta, Edy Kuswoyo, said the company saw the most passengers traveling to Jakarta from Surabaya in East Java.
To anticipate the influx at the station, Gambir station added more security personnel from the regular 25 to 35 on Sunday, kompas.com reported. -JP
