Your opinion on the mayor of Depok recently revoked the building permit for the planned Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP) church in Depok.

Freedom of worship is indispensable. It would be nice if everybody could practice their religion.

So, ideally, it doesn't matter how small a congregation is, even if it's just 2-3 people, they should be allowed to build a place of worship, as long as they comply with the law and don't incite violence, nobody can revoke the permit.

We Muslims must show that we are not oppressors otherwise don't blame Geert Wilders for the film he made. There will be another Geert Wilders. If we Muslims don't respect non Muslims, then why should they respect us?

I think the decision of the Mayor of Depok to revoke the building permit for the HKBP church in its region is the right one.

This revocation is aimed at avoiding restlessness from Muslim residents who are against the existence of this church.

Based on government regulations, one of preconditions to issue permit for church building is that it must get endorsement from a certain number of Muslim residents in the area.

It often happens that Christian communities build churches in certain locations without a permit or enough Christian. There is no need for a new Church; they can utilize the nearest one.

Christian people never mind Muslim's building mosques anywhere in Indonesia, they don't even mind their noisy way of praying. This is something that people in general can judge. God must judge it, too.

Fellow Muslims, where ever you are, open up your heart, keep your religion for you alone, the more you blow the bigger the fire. We are all brothers, created by one supreme Almighty God.

What has happened to tolerance! Why can't Muslims and Christians live and pray side by side? This is a sad day for Indonesia and Indonesians.

Depok's Mayor justifies official intolerance by citing protests from local bigoted rabble. A disgraceful abdication of responsibility - may we ask which party the Mayor belongs to?

What would have happened if they revoked the building permit for a mosque?

Just be fair to everyone without any discrimination against religion, gender, race or whatever.

Frankly, I agreed with the Depok mayor's decision to not approve a permit to build a church in Depok city. There are so many churches in Depok, and I can't understand the purpose of all these churches, except to show that you exist.

There are so many kinds of churches in Depok. You can see more than five churches on Jl Siliwangi. It is better if your money is donated to people who are really in need.

The government agencies in Depok have issued a building permit for the HKBP church. The HKBP has started the construction of the church.

The mayor of Depok should respect the right of the Christian community to have their own house of worship.

As a public authority the Mayor must take care of the interests of all citizens in his city.

Indonesia cannot truly claim to have freedom of religion until each of us is prepared to fight for the rights of others to hold religious beliefs different from our own.
