AKARTA: State telecommunications firm PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) booked Rp 11.332 trillion (US$1.24 billion) in net profit, in 2009 an increase of 6.7 percent from Rp 10.619 trillion in 2008.
“The achievement was supported by a 25 percent increase in subscribers to 81.6 million in 2009,” Telkom president director Rinaldi Firmansyah said in a press release published Thursday.
He said the net profit was contributed by overall revenue increasing by 6.4 percent to Rp 64.597 trillion from Rp 60.7 trillion in 2008.
“The good performance of Telkom will make the company stronger this year and this will strengthen growth making it
more sustainable and profitable,” Rinaldi said.
This year Telkom allocates $2.2 billion to capital expenditure of which 70 percent is contributed by Telkom’s subsidiary Telkomsel, which is also the biggest contributor to overall revenue. — JP
