AKARTA: Mohammad Sani, head of Batuampar subdistrict in East Jakarta was removed from his position on Friday after local residents protested the official's arrogance.

Sani will be transferred to a new position as section head of governance at Kramat Jati district.

Batuampar subdistrict is to be led by new head Saruhi, previously the section head of governance and public order at Cakung district.

Residents of the subdistrict demanded Sani be replaced because he never attended any events, including religious occasions, conducted by Batuampar subdistrict residents despite being regularly invited.

On the other hand, Sani always donated his money to said events.

East Jakarta deputy mayor Asep Syarifudin told the new subdistrict head to give his best service to the residents because the position is strategic for a career in politics. - JP
