OGYAKARTA: To counter the flow of commercial products from China as a result of the implementation of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA), the Bantul administration has urged residents to stick to local products.
"Globalization is inevitable and unavoidable. We can't reject it, but have to face it and declare war," Bantul Regent Idham Samawi said.
He sent a message to district, village heads and community organizations calling for the use of local products, especially in agricultural practices.
"The provision of food, drinks and for activities and meetings in Bantul regency must prioritize local interests and use produce from our farmers," he said.
The local product campaign is expected to raise the welfare of farmers. - JP
