AKARTA: Around 2,000 Buddhists gathered at Arya Dwipa Arama Temple in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, East Jakarta, to hold a religious ceremony to commemorate Waisak on Friday.
Representatives from the Religion Ministry greeted the congregation before the ceremony began.
After performing the rituals, many members of the congregation signed a 50-meter-long white banner in protest of a bar in Menteng, Central Jakarta, called Buddha Bar. Non-Buddhists also signed the banner, kompas.com reported. - JP
