AKARTA: The Education Ministry plans to include an anti-corruption module in the 2011 curriculum.
“Corruption could be reduced by arresting people, but our efforts should also involve the education system,” Education Minister Mohammad Nuh said on Thursday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Nuh added that corruption was not just an adult problem. “It is also a problem for children because they will become adults and parents.”
Children must be provided with honest education, he said. “The anticorruption education program can be shared by children with their parents.”
The module is anticipated to be part of regular curriculum from elementary school up to the university level. “Children will be given anti-corruption material suited to their age,” Nuh said. — JP
